Use this page to explore this selection of projects that I’ve worked on. These represent some of the longer projects I’ve been involved in. For shorter, but still very interesting projects, see my articles section.
As an Outreach Specialist and Natural Resources Educator with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension I’m combining my social science and natural resources backgrounds with photography and communications skills to create images and videos that aid farmers in adopting conservation practices on their land to reduce non-point source pollution in the Great Lakes Basin.
The Turtle Survival Alliance’s North American Freshwater Turtle Research Group conducts turtle population surveys annually in select freshwater springs. I volunteer with the group to catch and process turtles, and of course I always take my camera to capture this fun and important citizen science project.
I studied the environmentally degrading behavior of people discarding their cigarette butts onto a public beach for my Master’s thesis. My images illustrate the problems with cigarette butts on the beach, and visually represent my research process.
Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard helps people connect to nature through locally-grown food. During their 2019 season I photographed the fall fun, produced social media content with the images, and was able to watch the seasons change at the orchard. These are some of my favorite images.
